An Evening At The Grand
“So let’s all go to the lobby, to get ourselves a treat.”
It is not very often that we go out to catch a movie in its first run at the theater. Unfortunately nowadays it seems like you have to take out a second mortgage to be able to afford it. That is why I love going to The Grand theater. You can catch the latest blockbusters at a reasonable price. Matinee showings are three dollars and evening showings are five dollars! The ability to see first run shows and not break the bank is exactly why we choose The Grand.
Aside from the pricing, another reason we love going to this theater is theater is for the experience. The theater was built-in 1924 and when it was renovated in 2004 it was made to resemble how it looked back when it opened. It marks a simpler time, yet a time when going to the theater was a big to-do. A time before the huge multiplexes where there was, and still is, a good chance you will be waiting in line for the doors to open.
From the classic marquee on the outside,
to the curtain and organ in the front of the auditorium,
going to The Grand is like stepping into a time machine and going to a time in the distant past and also the not too distant past.
